Video: Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert featured on premiere episode of “Tom’s Wild Life” on Astini News

Country music superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, who live in Tishomingo, will be featured prominently in the debut episode of the series "Tom's Wild Life," premiering at 8 p.m. Sunday on Great American Country (GAC). Here is the preview for the first episode, along with the official description of the series:

Legendary outfitter Tom McMillan works hard and plays harder and in the process has created a close circle of celebrity friends. Country music stars like Blake Shelton (he was Shelton's best man) and Miranda Lambert often retreat to his Kansas ranch, a place that has become a haven for many road weary stars looking to let loose and enjoy the great outdoors. In "Tom's Wild Life," viewers will get an all access pass to Tom's world, where celebrity clients mix with cowboys and hunters; where it's equal parts guitars and guns, deer, horses, music and laughter.

"I met Blake eight or nine years ago and when I've had too much work at home, I get to jump on a plane or bus and go on tour with him," McMillan says. His wife Jacque works alongside her husband in their outfitting business and has formed a strong bond with Miranda Lambert. "I met Tom and Jacque through Blake," Lambert recalls. "And I was a little nervous to meet them because I knew they were such important people to Blake. But Jacque and I hit it off immediately because we're both pretty low key, outdoorsy girls." Both couples enjoy deer hunting, cattle roping, fishing, country music and one-upsmanship when it comes to practical jokes.

McMillan has gotten comfortable backstage, but back country is where he's really at home, guiding wild adventures with his friends and guests which sometimes go as planned and sometimes don't. Cameras take it all in as they hunt, drift rivers, summit mountains, wade swamps and wage battles with fish, game and sometimes each other but always in good fun. And they are still rolling when the outdoor activities stop, treating viewers to impromptu performances, campfires and maybe a bit of trash talking.

In addition to Shelton and Lambert, other country music artists up for a challenge include Josh Kelley, not just a pop and country hit maker but an experienced fly fisherman; Lambert's new trio, The Pistol Annies who go through gun handling boot camp before heading out on a bird hunt; Broadway star and singer Laura Bell Bundy who guides Tom through his first New York City visit and NASCAR's Clint Bowyer who plans an after-the-fact bachelor party for Shelton that includes a NASCAR race, fishing and gator hunting.

"When we first saw the pilot, we fell in love with Tom, Jacque and the whole gang at McMillan Outfitting," says GAC GM Sarah Trahern. "It wasn't just another hunting and fishing show; we immediately wanted to go hang with them in Kansas and knew our audience would too. The show is a fun way to see an offstage side of artists like Blake and Miranda, Josh Kelley, Trent Willmon, the Pistol Annies and NASCAR's Clint Bowyer. You can't buy a ticket to capture what we have with this series."

Tom McMillan takes outdoor adventure to the edge. With him as your guide, there's always excitement and adventure in the great outdoors and although he keeps company with many high-profile characters, he is undoubtedly the biggest character of all.
