Hirata, a certified public accountant, brings more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry to his new role as chief financial officer. Most recently, Hirata served as the State of Hawaii Deputy Director of Budget and Finance under the Abercrombie administration.

Previously, Hirata served as vice chairman and chief financial officer of Central Pacific Financial Corp., the bank holding company of Central Pacific Bank. Prior to Central Pacific Financial Corp., he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of CB Bancshares, Inc., a bank holding company, whose principal subsidiary was City Bank.

Before joining CB Bancshares, Inc., Hirata served as senior vice president and controller at First Hawaiian Bank. He began his professional career at the international accounting firm of KPMG and left as senior manager to join First Hawaiian Bank.

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Hirata received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. His professional affiliations include the Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Financial Executives International, Hawaii Chapter.

Additionally, Hirata devotes his time to non-profit organizations including the boards of the Aloha Council Boy Scouts of America and Hawaii Employer-Union Health Benefits Trust Fund (EUTF).
