NIA claims lead to crack 9/7 conspiracy on Astini News

National Investigative Agency (NIA) claims to have finally found the links to the September 7 Delhi High Court blast. While submitting an application for remand of two suspects in a city court on Thursday, NIA told Special Judge HS Sharma that the remand was required to unearth the conspiracy.&

Terming one of the suspects as a 'terrorist', the NIA in its remand application said, "Amir Abbas Dev is one of the terrorists who had conducted bomb blast between gate no-4 and gate no-5 of the Delhi High Court." The court sent Dev to judicial custody for a day while the other suspect, Abid Hussain, was remanded to 14-day police custody.

Hussain is a Class XI student of Islamia Faridia Higher Secondary School at Kishtwar and was arrested on September 13 for allegedly sending the terror mail, NIA said. Dev, who is pursuing BA through correspondence from Maulana Azad Urdu University in Hyderabad, not only sent the emails but also took part in the blast, NIA said in its application.

While seeking remand for the duo, NIA told the court that Dev and Hussain were conspirators in planting explosives outside gate no-5 of the Delhi High Court. Seeking Dev's remand, NIA told the court, "Dev, a Jammu & Kashmir native, is one of the conspirators and he needs to be interrogated thoroughly to trace out their complexity in the terror attack, and to reach their accomplices who are also involved in this blast."

During separate proceedings in the forenoon, Judge Sharma allowed the agency to quiz suspect Hussain, who is in its custody till October 5. The judge sent Hussain to police custody after asking him if he needed a counsel and Hussain told the judge that he did not need any lawyer. Hussain refused to enlist a lawyer.

Following a request by NIA in the morning for in-camera proceedings, the special judge asked journalists to vacate the courtroom. The judge said, "Only those persons will stand in the court whom I will allow. Please vacate the court." The in-camera proceedings lasted for about 45 minutes.

"During proceedings, the judge asked Hussain about his age to which he replied that he was a major, not minor. His certificate does not carry his original date of birth," court sources said. As the hearing barred journalists' entry inside the courtroom, the scribes were seen peeping through the main door of the courtroom which had a glass door to get a view of the happenings of the case. However, the scene changed in the afternoon as four CISF personnel and two Delhi police commandoes were placed outside the courtroom to prevent peeping.

The court issued a notice to advocate Ravi Qazi, who is likely to defend Dev on Friday. Hussain and Dev were brought to Delhi on Wednesday following their arrest at Kishtwar. The two accused have been booked under various provisions of the IPC, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act, dealing with conspiracy, murder, attempt to kill, causing hurt and using explosives.

Dev is accused of handing over the draft mail three days before the blast to the two high school students. He is alleged to have drafted the email and then handed it over to the two boys with the instruction that it was to be mailed to media houses immediately after the blasts. Third accused Shariq Ahmed, who was also arrested in connection with the case, is yet to be produced in the special NIA court. The terror mail had said, "We own responsibility of the blast at the High Court, Delhi. Our demand is that Afzal Guru's death sentence should be repealed immediately as we would target major High Courts and the Supreme Court of India.
