Morgan Freeman described the Tea Party as having a racist agenda in its opposition of President Barack Obama in an interview on CNN's Piers Morgan scheduled to air Friday night.

Morgan asked Freeman about Obama's presidency and the positive or negative effect it has had on the alleviation of racism in America. Freeman answered that it had made things worse.

The Tea Party's "stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves on term term," Freeman said. "What's, what does that, what underlines that? Screw the country. We're going to do whatever we do to get this black man, we can, we're going to do whatever we can to get this black man outta here."

Morgan played devil's advocate with Freeman, who continued, "It just shows the weak, dark, underside of America. We're supposed to be better than that. We really are. That's why all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president. 'Ah, look at what we are. Look at how, this is America.' You know? And then it just sort of started turning because these people surfaced like stirring up muddy water."

Morgan suggested that people would not like to see Obama deliver a "metaphorical bloody nose" to his opponents. Freeman agreed. "Now you see how hard he's tried and how hard they have fought against him," Freeman said.
