Metta World Peace (Ron Artest) donates to Centerstone on Astini News
Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, announces his donation to six mental health charities, including Centerstone, at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.
Metta World Peace, the Los Angeles Lakers basketball star formerly known as Ron Artest, has made a $37,500 donation to Centerstone of Tennessee.
According to a news release, the donation is a piece of a larger $300,000 donation World Peace made to six behavioral health charities across the country.
In Nashville, Centerstone will use the funds to complete a new facility.
"We are honored and so grateful for Mr. World Peace's generous donation to Centerstone," said Bob Vero, CEO of Centerstone. "His gift will help us serve thousands of children with behavioral health care needs each year. It puts us one step closer toward completion of a new facility and will have a direct impact on so many Middle Tennessee families."
World Peace last year raffled off his NBA championship ring to raise the money for mental health programs.
"It was great to meet a representative from each of the six mental health organizations who received funding from my nonprofit, Xcel University," said World Peace in a news release. "I feel like we are all on the same team, working to help America's youth and provide them with the tools they need to live a productive, healthy life. I'm honored to be a part of such an important movement, and I applaud each of these organizations for the amazing work they are doing in their local communities."
