As part of this week's FutureM marketing event, employees from Brightcove, Constant Contact, Pixability and a host of other Boston-area digital marketing firms plan to converge on Copley Square, Wednesday, for a flash-mob dance set to the pop hit Party Rock Anthem, by LMFAO (above).

For companies that have filed papers to go public, usual procedure is to enter a "quiet period" until the IPO completes. But word is that some of the folks at Brightcove Inc  , are giving themselves a one-day hiatus.

The online video company is expected to be among a number of local companies — both startups and bigger names — represented today at what is being called the "world's first social marketing flash mob."

The place: Copley Square. The goal: Dance to LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem." The time: 4:45 p.m.

But the more than 100 people taking part must be prepared to do more than just dance, said Bettina Hein, CEO of video marketing startup Pixability Inc., whose company is organizing the flash mob. The event is to start with everyone checking-in on Foursquare. And during a few breaks in the song, everyone is expected to stop and use Twitter, Facebook and Google+.

After all, the flash mob is being held today as part of the weeklong FutureM marketing conference in Boston.

"We want to show the spirit of the marketing community and tech community," Hein said. "It's not like these will be college kids. These are people who usually sit at serious desk jobs, getting out to a flash mob."

A Brightcove spokeswoman said it's not something Brightcove is taking part in "as a company" — but Pixability's Rob Ciampa confirmed that some from Brightcove are expected to be there.

Also expected to be represented are Reebok, Hubspot, Communispace, Constant Contact and Farland Group. Find out more and sign up here: http://telecomadvisors.biz/offers.pixability.com/future-m-flash-mob/
