& Students at Poplar Bridge Elementary School in Bloomington will be greeted by a 16-foot-long great white shark when they head back to school next month.

The shark is actually a replica of a 3,500-pound one caught off the coast of Daytona Beach during spring break season 15 years ago.

Until now the replica shark has hung in the former Underwater Adventures Aquarium at Mall of America.

After a multi-million dollar redesign, the newly-named SEA LIFE Minnesota Aquarium decided to donate the shark to Poplar Bridge.

Poplar Bridge Principal Gail Swor says the shark is a perfect fit with the school's emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

The shark will hang in the school's library. It will be at the school for students to see on Family Night Sept. 1. It will be hoisted up to its new home in the library Friday, Sept. 6.
